Evolution
Budapesti Kádár, Hungary’s premier cooperage, and Chene & Cie, owner of Taransaud cooperage, have joined to create Kadar Hungary.
Beginning February, 2008, Kádár Hungary will cooper the finest oak barrels from Central Europe by combining Budapesti Kádár’s extensive forest knowledge from six decades of wood sourcing, its cadre of the most experienced coopers in Hungary and its cooperage and wood mill with the heritage, know-how and quality of Taransaud and Chene & Cie. Reflecting the new partnership and focus on the Northern forests of Hungary Kadar Hungary will replace the Budapesti Kádár brand worldwide.
The partnership is a recognition that Hungary is the premier source of oak from Central Europe. Kádár Hungary will build fine barrels for winemaking from the venerable forests of Hungary providing vintners throughout the world with an elegant range of flavors and characteristics. Managed sustainably since 1769 as part of the Austro Hungarian monarchy, these forests especially those of the Northern forests and in particular Tokaj, have long been prized by winemakers throughout Europe.
